FESTIVITIES AND TRADITIONS IN TULUM

Sea Turtle Festival An important celebration for the inhabitants of Tulum, but mainly for those who visit this tourist destination of Quintana Roo, is the Sea Turtle Festival, which has been held since 2003. In this environmentalist event, inhabitants of the many communities in the Riviera Maya and Cancun. It is a celebration full of colors and joy that includes a kite contest, a sculpture contest made with sand, the cleaning of the beaches of the place, different ecological promotion workshops, and the release of hundreds of small turtles on the beach of Xcacel , which is located about 16 kilometers north of the city of Tulum.

Alborada Maya

The Alborada Maya is a religious festival that takes place in Tulum, right in the ceremonial center. For several decades now, the founding families of the place carry out this event, from March 7 to 18 of each year, to thank God for the good harvests and request that they continue throughout the year. It is a celebration in which various saints are honored, through pilgrimages, prayers, novenas, bullfighting dynamics, offerings and Mayan music.

Tulum Carnival

Starting the year, we have the biggest event, the Tulum Carnival which takes place in March, a few weeks before Lent. With the motto "fun and joy in the Caribbean", it is a great party lasting 3 days. The carnival features popular dances, floats and the coronation of King and Queen
